Cinque Terra

We spent two lovely days in Cinque Terra on the Italian riviera. The room we rented was in the town of Vernazza owned by the proprietor of the local gelateria. Vernazza has the only natural harbor of the 5 towns and also has a nice little beach. But we mainly used the harbor for its amazing restaurant which served the best pesto gnochi ever.

On the first day, we did the hike from Vernazza to Corniglia which is up in the hills. The next day we trained to Riomaggiore and then took the Via del Amore from Riomaggiore to Manarola. Then we trained all the way to Monterosso in the north and walked around its lovely beaches and both its old and new town. We even hiked up to see an old church and cemetery built way up on a hilltop with great views of the town below.

We ate tons of food, experienced a little of the lovely Cinque Terra ambiance, and fought with the lack of real toilets anywhere. But we loved every minute (except for the toilets part).
