100 days and counting!

Jed | December 1, 2008
Week 25
Nicole at week 25

T minus 100 days and counting until little Eli’s due date. Over the last few weeks both Nicole’s belly (see pics) and baby Eli have grown quite a bit - Eli is around 14 inches long and weighs just under 2lbs! With this growth spurt has come lots of movement. I (and other folks brave enough to ask) can feel the baby when he kicks and even sometimes when he moves around. Nicole’s been enjoying this second trimester much more than the first since she’s been feeling much better and things have gotten more exciting. We’re a bit apprehensive about the third trimester which starts in a few days since sleeping is supposed to get more difficult and the baby gets much bigger.

Since moving into our new house, we’ve started working on the nursery (pictures to come). So far we’ve painted, hung a border, bought bedding, and assembled a crib and a changing table (sometimes more than once). Our bedding is “Snug as a Bug” by Kidsline. We still have a lot left to do, but it’s starting to feel more real by the day!

Also, for those who have been asking, here’s where we’re registered. But these lists are a work in progress:

  • Burlington Coat Factory’s Baby Depot

We’re having a boy!

Jed | October 18, 2008

We went to the doctor yesterday for our 20 week anatomy sonogram and to find out the sex of the baby. We got to see our new baby from an incredible number of angles and in amazing detail. The doctors were very clear with us: we’re definitely having a boy!

We couldn’t believe how clear the pictures were. Although a lot of the time they had to explain just what we were looking at (especially when they showed us his, um, “male parts”). But then at the end they showed us the 3D images and we were blown away. We could actually see our baby’s face. Unbelievable.

And after much deep thought (and much Googling), we’ve chosen a name:

Elijah James Fonner

With luck, in less than 5 months little Eli will become the newest member of our family.

Here’s a small set of pictures from the sonogram showing our healthy baby boy:

And here’s our baby boy’s development chart:

A new addition to the Fonner family is on the way

Jed | September 21, 2008

So I’ve tried to tell most people in person or via a direct email. But that really doesn’t scale, so it’s time to let the cat out of the bag. Nicole and I are expecting our first child in March. I’m going to be a dad!

We don’t know the gender of the baby yet but we are going to find out at our next sonogram. Nicole has a bunch of potential names although we haven’t decided on anything yet (waiting to find out the gender). We’re also moving from DC out to West Falls Church to have a little more room for our growing family.

It’s been a pretty crazy few months but the good news is that everything seems to be going well according to the doctor. Nicole was pretty miserable for the first trimester but now most of the nausea has passed. Unfortunately she still has some pretty wicked heartburn most of the time. But aside from that, we’re both pretty excited and can’t wait to meet our new son or daughter.

And according to the development charts, our baby is currently the size of an avocado. Ah, they grow up so fast nowadays…

Wedding Montage

Jed | October 19, 2007

Here’s the montage video of our wedding. It’s 4 minutes long, and it’s also a fairly big download, so it might take a while to load.

Enjoy!

Honeymoon pictures posted

Jed | October 1, 2007

So even though we don’t have the wedding pictures up yet, I did manage to post all the pictures from our honeymoon.

You can see them by clicking the Photos tab and then using the links on the right or you can jump straight to them.

We had an unbelievable time, in two different ways. The incompetence of the airlines getting us to Aruba and home stretches the limits of understanding. But aside from our travel days, we had a great time seeing new things, relaxing, and generally enjoying some quality, married alone-time.

Here’s one of my favorites: Nicole and I enjoying a typical Aruba sunset in front of our hotel.
